The Abidjan District Address System Project (PADA) was launched by Prime Minister Patrick Achi on 16 December. The strategic importance of addresses and the sharing of address information received particular emphasis. The project is about modernising the city and facilitating the day-to-day life of its inhabitants and businesses. All streets in the city will thus be given an identity and a direction of traffic flow, and then all buildings will be listed.
In terms of the naming of streets, the Economic Policy Analysis Unit (Cellule d’Analyse des Politiques Economiques – CAPEC) will work on attributing names, and their proposals will then be validated by the National Toponymic Commission (CNT).
The inhabitants of Koumassi commune were given the first address certificates at the project’s launch ceremony.
