Following validation of the approach developed during the test phase, technical operations are under way in zone 1 (Koumassi, Marcory, Treichville and Port Bouet), with surveys continuing in the various communes, stencilling activities having begun in Koumassi commune, and checking and calculating of the address numbers of occupancy units (by cartographers based in the PADA workshop) being carried out as the surveys progress.
Expanding the surveying teams from 10 to 30 plus 5 co-ordinators and a supervisor, and deploying 6 teams of 7 stencilling technicians managed by 2 co-ordinators and 1 supervisor means that the technical activities in this zone are progressing well.
In order to facilitate the smooth running of activities in zone 1, an awareness campaign is being bolstered by the use of billboards, producing a little animated film, setting up neighbourhood units, etc.
About PADA: The Abidjan District Address System Project (PADA) is part of the operationalisation of the street and door address system in the Abidjan district and also involves setting up a single autonomous reference standard for addresses in Abidjan. Once set up, the project will make it easier to identify the location in the event of an emergency response by police or firefighters for example, will enable the postal services to be modernised and will make it easier to find a location when travelling around the city.
PADA is a project under the aegis of MCLU, carried out by the BNETD with the support of an international technical assistance team comprising IGN FI/ GEOFIT/ DEFIS ET STRATEGIES.
