Supply and installation of the continously operating reference system (CORS), LAOS

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the enhancing systematic land registration project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for supply and installation of continuously operating reference system (abbreviated “CORS” or called “reference stations”).

At present, National Geographic Department in Laos have single stations and small continuously operating reference system networks around Vientiane and other urbanized regions. The Department of Land (DoL), however, has 21 operational CORS with one centralized command and management centre, where the stations are around Vientiane and other urbanized regions.

The DoL intends to install fifty-two (52) CORS stations with two delivery period. First period (PPA) is 15 and second period (IPF) is 37 CORS and purchase license for the control Center with the aim to establish a CORS network with a modern communication system for data transmission between remote locations, distribution of real-time differential GNSS corrections, and a web-based access to static data.

These CORS stations will be installed at the District Office of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE).

The Bidding has been conducted through international competitive procurement using Request for Bids. The UNIQTEK & IGN FI Joint Venture (JV) awarded the contract.

Objectives and deliverables

The objective is to provide CORS to be the standardized referencing network for all land management in Laos. The network will cover the whole country with reliable and accurate real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning service.
